An Inexpensive Dupe for MAC's "Syrup"

Hey guys! I know that a favourite lipstick from MAC Cosmetics is "Syrup" (a lustre), which I own and love. Recently I purchased a pretty good, inexpensive dupe for Syrup, and I thought I would share it with you!

Left- Rimmel London Lasting Finish by Kate in "08"
Right- "Syrup" lipstick from MAC

MAC "Syrup"

Rimmel Kate in "08"

The finish and colour of these two lipsticks on my lips is so similar! I will say that the texture of the Rimmel is slightly thicker, and the colour is a bit more pink and opaque. But overall, they are very similar!

I believe the Rimmel Kate lipsticks retail for around $6 at drugstores, while the MAC lipstick can be purchased for $19 CAD at MAC counters.

Korres Wildrose Brightening Skin Care Products

Hey guys! Today's review is going to be a review on two skincare products from Korres that I bought in a set at Christmastime at Sephora for $62.50.

Korres Wild Rose Daily Brightening & Refinishing Buff Cleanser
"Instantly reveal a brighter complexion with this gentle yet effective exfoliating cleanser enriched with Wild Rose oil, clinically proven to improve skin's overall radiance and texture with daily use."
Let me start by saying that I do not use this product everyday. This scrub contains salicylic acid, which breaks me out if I use it too often. I use this scrub once or twice a week. That being said, I really do like this product! It has a nice rose scent, and does a great job at softening my skin. I don't find it too harsh, but I do find that it enhances my skin's radiance. I would recommend this product.

Korres Wild Rose+Vitamin C Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial
This thick cream started my obsession with Vitamin C! This night cream is so brightening (as it claims) and I believe that is due to the Vitamin C. When I apply this product at night, I wake up with glowing skin, smaller pores and a more even complexion- it works wonders! It is just moisturizing enough and has a lovely rose scent. I would highly recommend this product for all skin types

Garnier Nourishing Cleansing Oil Review

Hey guys! Today I have another review for you- this time the new Garnier Nourishing Cleansing Oil.

This is the very first cleansing oil I've tried, and though I love the concept, I just like this product, I don't love it. This product claims to dissolve impurities and makeup, and replenish skin using jojoba and macadamia oils. It is said to be for dry skin, but I think it would be suitable for all skin types. The consistency is a bit thinner than vegetable oil.

Here are the pros and BIG con of this product:

Pros:
-Super gentle, doesn't sting or irritate my skin or eyes at all
-Does a good job of dissolving face makeup
-Does not leave a greasy residue when taken off with water, but is still moisturizing
-Nice, floral, non-offensive smell
-Leaves skin feeling soft

Con:
-Does NOT remove my mascara, even non-waterproof mascara. I always end up using a different eye makeup remover after this product to remove my mascara, which is annoying.

"Directions: Make sure hands and face are dry. Apply 1-2 pumps to fingertips and massage onto skin. Close eyes to remove eye (area) makeup. Wet face to emulsify oil then rinse thoroughly."

I follow these directions to a tee to remove my makeup (I use 2 pumps) and then follow up with my clairisonic and cleanser in the shower and then moisturizer. I hope this was helpful!

Batiste Dry Shampoo Review

Hey guys!
I had to do a review on this dry shampoo because IT IS AMAZING! The regular Batiste dry shampoo in the blue/green packaging has always been my favourite, but when I dyed my hair dark brown a few months ago, I found that it made my roots look a bit grey. Long story short, I ran out of the original formula and then was never able to find it, or any of the other Batiste formulas, again! (I used to purchase at Shoppers Drug Mart) I ended up finding this one recently at Winners for $6.99 and picked it up without hesitation. I was a bit surprised when this product actually applied to my hair white- I thought it would apply brown. I guess it turns a brown colour though, because it blends in nicely to my brown hair and doesn't look grey at all. Just like the original formula, this dry shampoo does an amazing job of refreshing my hair, taking the grease away and it smells AMAZING! (Even better than the original formula). I would highly, highly, highly recommend this product if you have dark hair!
"Batiste Dry Shampoo for medium & brunette hair is perfect to use between washes. A quick burst revitalizes hair and removes any excess grease. Hair feels gorgeously clean and fresh with added body and texture. The hint of colour compliments medium shades and helps blend in root re-growth on coloured hair."

Healthy Sexy Hair Soy-Tri Wheat Leave In Conditioner

Hey guys! Today I'm going to review the Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Tri-Wheat Leave In Conditioner. I purchased this product from Chatters Salon for $20 for 250mL.
I was in the market for a new leave-in conditioner, and I had heard so many good things about this one, so obviously, I had to try it! This is said to be the improved formula with soy and cocoa. I have used it about three times now, and so far I really like it! The spray comes out as a very fine mist and doesn't weigh my fine hair down at all. It is a really great detangler though! I spritz it all through my hair, wait a few minutes and then comb it through and it removes almost all the tangles. It has a very light fragrance and leaves my hair very soft, shiny and tangle-free. I would definitely recommend this product!
"Soy Tri-Wheat Leave-In Conditioner combines the great benefits of Soy and Cocoa for beautiful, vivacious hair.
Directions: Spray on towel dried hair and comb through for conditioning and detangling."

Nivea Lip Balms: The Good and the Very Bad

Hey guys! This is going to be a review on two twist up Nivea lip balms- one that I absolutely love, and one massive fail. They can both be found at the drugstore for around $2.

I'll start with the good- the Nivea Pure & Natural lip balm in the Milk & Honey flavour.
Not only is this product super inexpensive, it is also super moisturizing and smells great! It's very gentle and non-irritating, and can be applied in the morning under lip products or at night before bed. I also keep this balm in my purse and apply it throughout the day. I can't say enough good things about it.

Then there's the fail product...
This is the Nivea Waterproof Sun Lip Balm with SPF 30. The scent is fine and subtle, the product is a bit thick but not overly and once again it is very inexpensive. But frankly, this product sucks. It turns my lips WHITE. It looks disgusting. Here is the photo proof..
Nivea Sun Lip Balm

For reference I will also show you the Milk & Honey lip balm on my lips..

Nivea Milk & Honey lip balm

As you can see, the Milk & Honey gives a nice, clear shine to the lips, while the Sun formula makes them look white, dry and icky.

I hope this helped!

Nail of the Day: Revlon Winning Strike

Hey guys! Today's nail of the day post is on the Revlon colour in Winning Streak- a colour from their new line of Gel Envy Polishes.
This formula claims to be a color+bae and a longwearing formula and I completely agree. The formula is super long wearing- these photos were taken 5 days after applying the polish and there are no chips!! The polish still looks shiny and fresh. The formula is gel-like in that it is quite thick, opaque, and shiny (I still applied 2 coats). This colour is so beautiful as well! I think it's perfect for spring and summer. I can't wait to try more polishes from the Gel Envy line.
I also wanted to give a shout out to my absolute favourite clear top coat. This top coat from Revlon works amazing! It makes my nail polish sooo shiny and makes it last much longer.

Until next time,

Kels
